Lakes of Sarasota Community Development District (“District”) is an independent special district, created pursuant to and existing under the provisions of Chapter 190, Florida Statutes, and established by the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners approval of Ordinance No. 2019-051 on December 11, 2019. The District includes within its boundaries approximately 533.302 acres of land located in Sarasota County.
The District has not yet raised funding to install its planned public infrastructure improvements nor does it own any real property.
A Community Development District (CDD) provides the 'solution' to Florida's need to provide valuable community infrastructure generated by growth, ultimately without overburdening other governments and their taxpaying residents. CDDs represent a major advancement in Florida's effort to manage its growth effectively and efficiently. This allows a community to establish higher construction standards, meanwhile providing a long-term solution to the operation and maintenance of the community's facilities.
